The Pedal Pub
This is a Pedal Pub. When it drove up, it was filled with young people pedaling and drinking. If you look closely, you can see blue seats, with pedals by the feet. The Pedal Pub stopped in front of this bar, and most of the patrons got off and went into the bar. A few stayed on the Pedal Pub. I guess Josh and I can now say we have seen everything.
We were at the hospital today for some pre-op testing for Josh. While he was in the test, I went to see Louise, the Transplant Coordinator. While we were chatting, a pediatric endocrinologist came by to speak to Louise, and I was introduced to her. (She looked younger than Josh.) This M.D. coordinates a lot of the studies that they do at U of Minn.
I told her that we had asked and been given permission to freeze some of Josh's islet cells for possible use in the future. She said, "oh yes, I know all about that. Everyone's been talking about it." (Good for us, we created a little buzz.) She told me that they are doing research at U of Minn where they are taking cells from a person's skin and getting the stem cells from that and using that to produce islet cells. Now my scientist and M.D. friends, I may some of that jargon wrong, but hopefully you get the drift of what she was saying. Fascinating! This gives me hope that if Josh needs more islet cells in the future, research is being done on other ways to produce them.
Has anyone seen any good movies? Gregg and others saw the George Clooney movie "The American" and said it was awful. I was thinking of seeing something (else) this weekend. Any recommendations?
We are counting down the days. Thanks to everyone for the support.
