Josh at Starbucks
We had a great day today.  In the morning Josh and I went to Starbucks.  The weather has turned beautiful in Minneapolis, so we were able to sit outside and people watch.  It was delightful.

In the afternoon, Grandpa arrived!
Josh and Grandpa
We were so happy to see him, and man, was he happy to see Josh doing so well.

My dad and I spent the afternoon getting my boxes packed for shipping back to Connecticut.  There is a FedEx office directly across the street.  We walked over there to figure out how to get the boxes there, and the lady offered to lend us their hand truck!  She didn't know us, and she just let us take it.  Yes, they are really nice here in the midwest (OK Anne, you were right).

We went back to the hotel and packed up the two boxes, used the hand truck to get them across the street, and shipped them.  It made me realize that we really are coming home.  Hooray!!  I am very grateful for my dad's assistance.  I could not have done this alone.

Tonight the three of us went out for dinner at a really nice place called "Loring Pasta Bar".  It is in the area of town called "Dinkytown",  which is a 4 block area on the north side of the University of Minnesota campus.  Josh was able to eat a small portion which we considered a big success.  (It takes a while to get one's appetite back after this surgery.)  After a while he was hurting from sitting upright, so we finished up and went back to the hotel.  I think that's pretty amazing, though, for 11 days after this major surgery.

Tomorrow is a free day, Wednesday we have appointments over at the hospital, and if all goes as expected, Thursday we come home.  My dad is on the same flight with us which will be wonderful.  I hope they remove Josh's staples on Wednesday (I expect they will) because I think they are the major problem he has right now.  There sure are a lot of them!
